We have SNOW

The forests are blanketed in snow and the lake is still sparkling blue, a spectacular sight. Some downhill and x-country trails are open and snowshoeing is everywhere. Come and join in the fun.

Here and there we still have splashes of colour mixed with a leftover dusting of snow. The air is cooler but great for hiking in the park to return to a cozy fireplace with a good book. It's great having snow that doesn't require shovelling.

Muskoka Fall Colors

Guests this weekend enjoyed the amazing fall colors around the lakes, streams, waterfalls, hillsides, lookouts, cliffs, trails and all under sunny, brilliant blue skies. Hopefully we will be able to enjoy these sites for the next few weeks before the cooler weather arrives.

Quieter Times on Lake of Bays

Mornings in Muskoka in a canoe observing the loons and maybe a deer on the shore are memories to take home or capture on film. Guests are enjoying quieter times on Lake of Bays with families back to the city, quieter roads, a less busy pace. Times to notice all the smaller details and enjoy the gardens, still green forests and sparkling blue lake. Colours are only just touching the forest so we still have some summer to enjoy.

Summer of Weddings

This has been the summer of Weddings here at Nor'Loch Lodge Lodge. Couples are getting married on our Resort or in Algonquin Park and enjoying their reception on Lake of Bays. Some arrive by canoe and others by Traditional Muskoka Yacht to get married on the dock or under a flower covered arbor. A beautiful celebration to remember!

Blue Skies, Sun & Snow

Our guests are on the ski hill or enjoying the trails in Algonquin, Fen and Leaf lake are in great shape track set and groomed. A couple took the short trip to ragged falls to watch the tumbling waters and ice crystal at this impressive, rocky waterfall hidden in the forest. We are having beautiful sunny days and star filled nights, cold, crisp, clear air.
With all this snow we are wondering how the Easter Bunny will find us?

February Warms your Face

The lake is brilliant with the sun reflecting off the ice and snow crystals. Days are already longer and skiing in the Forest we can feel the warmth of the sun on our faces. Our guests arriving today will be heading to Hidden Valley or Algonquin Park for perfect winter skiing conditions. Some guests are looking forward to dog sledding, a challenging sport that is gaining fans. What fun when these beautiful animals take off and become quiet as they fly along curving paths through woods and along the shores of isolated lakes and meadows.
Next weekend is Family Day weekend and The Algonquin Park Visitors Centre will be open for the weekend. Take the family there and Sunday Lake Trails are nearby and you may see the dogs (Outward Bound) taking off from the entrance.
