Snow Sun and Sparkling Water

December has brought sun and snow blanketing the forest setting the scene for Christmas.  The lake still sparkles in the brilliant sunlight providing a fantastic contrast of sky, lake and snowy hillsides.  We are thankful for this beautiful change of season and look forward to winter fun!

Girls Weekend - Sheep Strings!

Girls Weekend was a great success with attendees from as far away as British Columbia.  The feature speaker was Sally Melville, Ottawa, author, knitwear designer and mentor to fellow knitters.  The event was hosted by Sheep Strings Yarn Art Studio owned by Karen Lawrence.  She is an independent seller of unique one of a kind yarns out of Dwight, Ontario.

Crystal Clear Night Skies

Here in Muskoka we have been enjoying cool sunny days and crystal clear night skies.  To really see the sky we walk down to the dock where we can get a wider view and then see what unfolds.  Often we have questions and lately we have gotten an answer.  What is that in the sky moving across so quickly  click here for the answer.  Put in the name of your city and see what we are seeing and be sure to turn your lights off at night, it saves the earth and helps us all enjoy the night sky.

Sunsets over Lake of Bays bordering Algonquin Park

Sunrises and sunsets have been amazing all week over Lake of Bays. Loons are still here enjoying as much of our Canadian fall as possible before the long trip south. Neighbour'ss talk of a group of 22 loons on a nearby lake and we can well imagine what an amazing sight that must have been. We are thankful for everyone who shares their stories with us!

Fall and Creating Memories

Fall Colours surround the clear blue lakes and cover the hills and valley in golden and red tones. Take time to enjoy the quieter moments and you might notice a hawk circling up above or a young deer foraging a grassy patch in the woods.

Summer is here!

Summer is finally here! Time to get out the canoe and paddles and drift down the lake after a busy day. We are looking forward to a weekend of sunshine and warmer days with cool evenings by a bonfire. Guests arriving will hear the call of the loon who has been here already for a month and lots of newly hatched birds and cute little chipmunks running around the property.

Tall Pines and Sparkling Waters Return

Sparkling waters are returning today and the ice is melting and shifting. Streams from the Boyne Creek and Marsh's Falls enter from opposite sides of our North Bay on Lake of Bays and create enough movement to melt the ice and both meet in the centre of the Bay. The large sheet of ice left over then shift and moves becoming smaller and smaller. Spring brings many great changes!
